Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Continental AG and DIAS, an automotive electronic product supplier wholly owned by SAIC Group, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Nov. 23 for the strategic cooperation on core technologies related to intelligent cars, the German auto supplier announced via its WeChat account. Under the MoU, both parties will jointly work to advance the application of 2-BOX braking system by leveraging their advantageous technologies, businesses and resources. It is the core part of the execution system, one of three major units constituting the intelligent driving system—the other two are for perception and decision-making. Two companies will co-develop 2-BOX-enabled smart braking solution using Continental AG’s ESC product and the CBS offered by Tsingdu Automotive Tech, a subsidiary of DIAS. “Relying on its expertise and abundant experience in the development of braking system, Continental AG will join hands with DIAS to launch the decoupling 2-BOX brake-by-wire system that satisfies Chinese market demands. Compared to conventional 2-BOX system, the brake-by-wire one recovers more braking energy and supports automated valet parking and automated driving technologies with a more open access. Moreover, the soon-to-be-developed system is more cost-competitive,” said Huo Jing, Head of Autonomous Mobility and Safety Business Area China of Continental AG. Focusing on automotive intelligence area, DIAS is making major efforts to develop such chassis-related products as electric power steering system and intelligent braking system.
